Server problems solved

Over the past week or so, the Walletproof server suffered some problems and on Sunday, it crashed completely and we were down for about 6 hours.

We've fixed the problem now, so hopefully you can continue to enjoy your budgeting(!) with Walletproof.

Problem solved: We're back in action

The server problems we have been experiencing over the past week have been solved. The root of the problem was a bug in our code that resulted in our server's memory being eaten up at such a rate that it was crashing every 3-4 hours.

Walletproof.com is hosted by the same server as this blog, so people that couldn't access Walletproof couldn't access this blog either. Next time, we'll post server problems in the Snailbyte weblog as well.

Server reliability problems

Over the past few days we've been having problems with our database server. This means that when our users try and access Walletproof, they can't.

We're working hard on trying to fix the problem and we'll hopefully have it sorted soon.

Overview of past spending for category

We're constantly working on features for Walletproof that give our users a better view of what they spend their money on.

The most recent addition is in the category graph section. Now, when you click on a category to see how much you've been spending on it, you can see the graph for the past three, six and twelve months instead of only being able to see the current month.

Click on the image on the right for a slide show of the new graphs.

We're also working on allowing users to get a better overview of all their categories in a similar fashion. Stay tuned.

New feature: Set yourself goals

We've just gone live with a new feature in Walletproof: Goals.

The idea is that you decide how much you want to spend on a given category and once you've passed that limit, the number in the category overview turns red so you know you've overspent.

To set a goal, click on the category name you want to set a goal for on the right hand side overview. Type in the amount you plan on spending and hit enter. Your goal is now saved.

Once you have spent more on a given category than you set your goal for, the category turns red.

In the screen shots on the right (click to enlarge), a goal of £10 has been set for a pizza (upper right image) but £20 pounds has been spent. The overview for this month's expenses (lower right image) indicates the pizza amount as red, which means you've overspent on pizza. That happens to the best of men.

We have some additional features for the Walletproof goals in the pipeline, so stay tuned!

We're live again!

Walletproof was down while the server was being updated but now we're live again running on our shiny new server.
